Resorts & Hotels
-
Ritz Carlton- Denver, CO
Full disclosure- this was a points redemption stay. Chain hotels aren't usually my thing, and this stay reminded me why. The hotel is fine- it will get the job done, but in a very bland way. Life is too short for bland.

Fort Lewis Lodge & Farm- Millboro, VA
Fort Lewis Lodge & Farm is absolutely fabulous if you enjoy the great outdoors. Its isolated location and 3300 acres offer an excellent retreat from the outside world. At Fort Lewis, it is possible to hike and swim all day, then spend the evening relaxing in front of a fire, or gazing at the night sky, no driving required.

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort- Cambridge, MD
I will preface this post by admitting we are not this resort's target audience. I could tell from the reviews and hotel website that the property was more geared toward families and children, but thought during the shoulder season it might be fun for a weekend getaway. Don't make that mistake. This is not the location for a couples escape.

Savage River Lodge – Frostburg, MD
Savage River Lodges offers the opportunity to unplug and enjoy nature, while still retaining the creature comforts most of us don't want to live without. The main lodge even includes a proper bar and dining room, a welcome amenity after a day spent exploring the adjacent Savage River State Forest.

Sheraton Centre Toronto- Toronto, ON
Full disclosure- I would not have chosen the Sheraton for a personal stay. It is a convention/tourist hotel, that is always busy, without a lot of personality. It is centrally located however, and the property was fully renovated during the pandemic, making it a solid choice in downtown Toronto.
