Resorts & Hotels
-
Nayara Springs- San Carlos, Costa Rica
Tucked in under the dense canopy of the Costa Rica rainforest, Nayara Springs is practically perfect. An adults only enclave, with a magnificent spa, it is the quintessential relaxing resort.
-
Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa- La Fortuna, Costa Rica
Tabacón Thermal Resort is an absolute dream. Like a trip to Fantasy Island, sans seaplane and Mr. Rourke (and supernatural scenarios). It's the embodiment of every tropical vacation you have ever longed for (minus the beach), and its memory will carry you through even the coldest of future winters.
-
Marriott Hacienda Belen- San Jose, Costa Rica
While I usually avoid chain hotels, Marriott's Hacienda Belen is located very close to San Jose's Juan Santamaría International airport, making it an incredibly convenient place to stay before or after a flight. They even provide an airport shuttle, making it an ideal place to start or end a Costa Rica vacation.
-
Muskoka Bay Resort- Gravenhurst, ON
Muskoka Bay Resort feels less like a resort, and more like a time share situation. Each unit is individually owned, so despite charging luxury resort rates, it's possible to get a low rent experience, complete with mismatched furniture and limited amenities.

Texican Court- Irving, TX
There aren't many boutique hotel choices in Irving, Texas. The Dallas suburb is all quite new and planned, so don't expect any historic options either. But they do have the Texican Court- a vintage inspired motel, which is close enough.
