Vineyards & Wine

Crimson Lane Vineyards- Linden, VA

Crimson Lane is probably the most stunning winery on the East Coast. It is definitely the most striking I have visited in the Mid Atlantic region. It also limits large parties, doesn’t allow animals, and is adult only- so for me, the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

Truly, both the tasting room and the land it sits on are downright beautiful. Situated atop a ridge, on a seriously breathtaking piece of land, it almost feels like you are sipping wine in a tropical forest. On the day we visited, low lying clouds shrouded the valley, lending an ethereal quality to the experience. A downright peaceful experience, without screaming children and barking dogs.

Tasting Room Porch

The tasting room itself is a work of art. Designed by Backen & Backen Architecture, known for their Napa and Sonoma designs, the cedar clad structure features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and large retractable windows. The screened in porch features views for days. The outdoor areas are equally inviting, with porch swings and intimate conversation areas.

As beautiful as the tasting room is, Crimson Lane is not all style over substance. Their wines, including an Albariño and various Merlot/Cab Franc/Cab Sauv blends (Collina, Parral) were absolutely fantastic. Their Loire style sauvignon blanc was equally delicious. As tastings here require a reservation, each pour was accompanied by a discussion of the wine, something that has become rare since COVID. The food here is also outstanding; the stewed beef empanadas made locally are absolutely not to be missed.
