Lodestone Golf Course- McHenry, MD

Based on reviews, Lodestone is either hit or miss. However, the other Wisp Resort golf course consistently receives abysmal reviews, so you’re probably still better off choosing Lodestone. How’s that for a ringing endorsement? But honestly, early in the season, Lodestone was a hit. 

A Hale Irwin and Todd Schoeder design that debuted in 2009, Lodestone follows a mountain ridge above Deep Creek lake. In fact, it has the highest elevation of any course in Maryland. As such, the course features numerous elevation changes, and dramatic scenery. With wide fairways and large greens, it is just challenging enough to be enjoyable for all. Although a bit pricey, conditions were excellent when we played, with well manicured greens, fairways and bunkers.
